Hi Susannah! I just had to say that we were also in the area last Sunday–at Buescher SP. I found a crazy mushroom that looked like a brain. We camped that night & the dog, who was very well-behaved otherwise, got sprayed by a skunk about 6:20am. That was exciting.

I always think it is wonderful to drive through that area on the way to Houston. Such a different world from anything in Austin and so close.

You can check out the Matagorda Bay Nature Park while you’re down there. It’s a good spot for kayaking.

I love the rain except for muddy dog feet. We have a mud pit by the back door for which are trying to figure out a quick and easy solution. Sigh.

How can a fruit be on a tree for a year without rotting or being eaten by a critter? I nearly bought a citrus tree at the Natural Gardener over the weekend, but I think I should do more research first. They seem complicated.

In the land of weird, I have watermelons right now. Isn’t it a bit late in the season?
